A Father's Advice - Part 2

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Most Compassionate

Dear Muaz

Peace be upon you.

Congratulation on your achievement to be offered a place to further your studies at USIM, Nilai. You deserved the honour as you have studied hard for your SPM last year. Remember son, no man was ever honoured for what he receives. Honour has been the reward for what he gaves. You gave everything you had and like I said, you deserved the honour. Anyway, if you think student life is tough, let me tell you that life at the campus shall be much more tougher. Hence, you have to study even harder. You have done it before and I believe you can do it again.

Challenges will be aplenty. Nevertheless, do not allow challenges to be the obstacles in the path to achieve your ambition. Instead, treat them as stepping stones for you to elevate yourself to even higher grounds. Realise one most important thing, study must always be your top priority. Painful it may be but remember, no pain no gain. At the same time, enjoy your life a bit. You will meet new friends who come from all over the country. They speak in slangs which you may not have heard before. Treat them well and they will treat you well too, I suppose. Give due respect to the lecturers, tutors and administrative staff. Afterall, life is about giving and taking. And if you come home for holidays, then we can, as usual, together watch Man United play in the TV.

Muaz, watching Abang Enol, you and the rest of your five younger siblings grew-up was indeed the happiest moment in my life. The dramas, excitements and suspense, good or otherwise, were second to none. Probably Allah SWT has given me and Mama with so much love that even though we have many children, our love towards you all have grown-up by the day. Despite the hardship, the headaches that we had to endure, we never regret a bit in our endeavour to build a happy family of our own. What I am saying here is, be positive in life, tawakkal and focus on what you are doing. The knowledge you will gain is crucial and important for you to prepare yourself for the future.

Let me recall one private moment you and I had on one fine evening when you were in Year 5, if my mind serves me right. You were sitting alone by the field near our house watching other children playing when I quietly approached you. I asked you why were you not playing together with them and you replied, "Muaz boring lah abah". "Boring? Kenapa?" I probed further as I was lost how come an 11 year old boy can easily get bored. You looked lost and did not reply. Then I told you, "Muaz, Muaz belajar rajin-rajin, nanti satu hari Muaz berjaya dan boleh pergi belajar di universiti jauh dari rumah, ha masa itulah Muaz pergi tengok tempat orang, ya?" Praise to Allah The Almighty, I am still around to share your little success. The time have come now that you choose your own destiny. Sure enough Nilai is near but who says you cannot go further, farther? Take one step at a time but the sky is the limit. Our doa for your success will never stop. We shall always be available when you need us, I promise.

Finally Muaz,

Call Mama frequently, as frequent as possible. I have said it to Abang Enol when I sent him to Arau last December and now I am saying the same thing to you too. Mother's love is the greatest love of all. Mama's love towards her children is borderless. Your heaven lies beneath her two feet.

Study hard, play hard and pray hard. When you are down, seek guidance from Allah SWT, ask for His forgiveness always and insya Allah, no problem so difficult to solve. And when you are happy, offer your syukur to Him so that He shall always bless you with more.

All the best and take care.

Luv,

Abah.
